Protelynx ("we," "us," or "our"), founded by Michael Fethe, operates BuildBid, an AI-powered construction estimating platform available as a web application and mobile app (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account we collect your name and email address. If you subscribe to BuildBid Pro we also collect billing information processed by Stripe; we do not store full payment card numbers.

Construction Documents

You may upload construction blueprints, floor plans, and related documents. These files are processed by our AI to generate cost estimates. Uploaded documents and generated estimates are stored in your account.

Camera Usage

The mobile app requests access to your device camera solely to let you photograph construction blueprints on-site. Photos are uploaded for AI processing and are not used for any other purpose. Camera access is optional and can be revoked in your device settings at any time.

Push Notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications for bid updates, project alerts, and estimate completions. You can disable notifications in your device settings.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized usage data such as page views, session duration, and device type. This data helps us improve the Service and does not personally identify you.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Send transactional and notification messages you have opted into
  • Improve the accuracy and performance of our AI models

3. Data Processors and Third Parties

We share data only with the following categories of processors:

  • Supabase — database hosting, authentication, and file storage
  • Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions
  • Google Analytics — anonymized usage analytics
  • Apple / Google — push notification delivery

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data and uploaded documents for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and uploaded documents within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

GDPR (European Economic Area)

If you are in the EEA, you have additional rights including the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our lawful basis for processing is contractual necessity (to provide the Service) and legitimate interest (to improve our products).

CCPA (California)

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and role-based access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
